Rich Kerry King V features a hard Canadian maple bolt on neck, a beveled top basswood body, a rosewood fretboard with 24 jumbo frets and a KKV inlay at the 12th fret, and 2 BDSM humbucker pickups. A Kahler Tremolo and B.C. Rich BDSM pickups highlight this nicely equipped bolt on V.Bolt-on Construction The Kerry King V Electric Guitar uses a classic Bolt-on construction. The maple neck is bolted on with 4 screws to the body. This construction offers some added flexibility in the instruments adjustment and provides the option to change the neck in the future.B.C. Rich BDSM Pickups B.C. Rich designed their BDSM humbucking pickups to provide a solid sound and to be durable while delivering high output. BDSM stands for Broad Dynamic Sonically Matched. That simply means the pickup is designed to reproduce a wide range of frequencies accurately (broad dynamic). Then they are tested and matched in pairs (neck and bridge) by their inherent individual and signature tonal and output characteristics to give a solidly balanced tone (sonically matched).Beveled Top The Kerry King V Electric Guitar employs a beveled edge around the shape. In many ways, bevels on a top are similar to facets on a cut stone. They catch the light and reflect at different angles giving the instrument more of a three dimensional look.

Gibson Custom SG Custom Reissue VOS Electric Guitar Faded Cherry

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

The SG originally was intended as a Les Paul redesign and addressed what many considered the 2 main issues players had with the Les Paul: weight and upper fretboard access. Les Paul himself didn’t like it so the Les Paul stuck to its original style and the new Les Paul design was renamed the SG Standard. Even though Les Paul didn’t approve of it, countless rockers loved it and made it one of all-time hard rockin’ favorites. This is the early ’60s deluxe model. Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Series instruments, the SG Custom VOS is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage guitar. Includes Gibson Custom Shop case, a certificate of authenticity, and custom care kit.

Gibson SG Diablo Electric Guitar Metallic Silver

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

The Gibson SG Diablo adds a unique depth and, if possible, higher class to the SG, which was a futuristic electric guitar design when it was introduced in 1961. The carved top on this mahogany guitar lends a 3D effect to the look and a slightly different brilliance and punch to the sound as well. The Diablo guitar’s controls have been streamlined to one volume and one tone, in addition to the standard three-way switch. The volume control has also been moved closer to the bridge pickup for easy access and volume swells. Gibson’s Burstbucker pickups-a No. 1 in the neck, and a No. 2 in the bridge-give the SG Diablo the subtle variations of true, vintage humbucker tone with historically unmatched bobbin windings and Alnico II magnets, just like the original PAFs in the Gibsons of the late 1950s and early 1960s. The new SG Diablo also takes the SG’s 24-3/4-inch scale length mahogany neck and adds two additional frets-for a total of 24-allowing an even higher register of notes from a guitar already known for its searing lead-playing capacity. Gibson’s traditional round neck profile and rosewood fingerboard enhances the Diablo SG guitar’s resonance and sustain, and secures its reputation as the fastest guitar neck in the world. It is available only in a Silver Metallic finish, with matching headstock. Grover tuners and gold hardware seal the deal. Like all Guitars of the Month, production is limited. The Gibson LogoThe most innovative and revolutionary stringed instruments of all time have carried the name Gibson-the Les Paul, the ES-335, the Explorer, the Flying V, and the SG. The list goes on and on. There is no mistaking the classic, hand-cut mother of pearl logo, inlayed into a pressed fiber-head veneer that is then glued to the face of the mahogany headstock. A thin coat of lacquer finishes the process. It is the most recognizable logo in all of music, representing more than a century of originality and excellence. There is simply no equal.Angled HeadstockThe angled headstock is another example of Gibson’s industry-changing way of thinking. Every Gibson headstock is carved out of the same piece of mahogany as the neck. It is not a glued-on headstock, and the process takes craftsmanship, time, and effort. But the rewards are worth the effort. The headstock is carefully angled at 17 degrees, which increases pressure on the strings and helps them stay in the nut slots. An increase in string pressure also means there is no loss of string vibration between the nut and the tuners, which equals better sustain.Adjustable Truss RodThe adjustable truss rod is a Gibson innovation that revolutionized the guitar. Before this groundbreaking discovery in the early 1930s, the truss rod was used only to strengthen and stabilize the neck. By making it adjustable, the truss rod now allows a guitar to be set up using a variety of string gauges, as well as string heights. This easily accommodates any style of playing, and allows a limitless rang

Gibson Custom SG Standard Historic Reissue Electric Guitar with Maestro Faded Cherry

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

The Gibson Custom Shop SG Standard Historic Reissue Electric Guitar with Maestro Tailpiece is a reprise of a fast-playing, versatile classic. With its ultra-thin, double-cutaway body, the SG was lighter than the Les Paul and allowed freer access to the upper register — both features that rockers immediately appreciated. This reissue guitar features a mahogany body, Maestro tailpiece, 1960 slim-tapered neck profile, vintage tulip tuners, and BurstBucker pickups.A Little SG History In 1961, the Les Paul was redesigned with a thinner body and 2 sharp cutaway horns that making the upper frets more accessible while lowering production costs. The new guitar was popular, but Les Paul the guitarist did not like it and asked to have his name removed. Gibson renamed the model the “SG” which was short for “solid guitar“. Though Les Paul’s name was officially removed from the model in 1961, the plastic Les Paul nameplates (positioned between the rhythm pickup and fingerboard) were in abundance in the Gibson factory and SG models having these nameplates were built and sold by Gibson up to end of 1963. SGs have been the choice of world-class artists such as Pete Townsend, Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi, and Angus Young.

Gibson Robot SG Special Ltd. Electric Guitar Natural Burst

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

The Gibson Robot SG Special Ltd. has joined the lineup of Gibson Robot Electric Guitars. One of the most common, and passionate requests that Gibson received after the debut of the Robot Les Paul, the world’s first guitar with robotic technology, was for an SG sporting the revolutionary tuning automation. The Gibson Robot SG Ltd. is a guitar that offers all the power, tone, and performance of a traditional SG electric guitar, with the revolutionary Robot automatic tuning. You don’t have to tune up your car every time you drive it. Now you don’t have to tune up your guitar every time you play it. The Robot Guitar does it for you. Just plug it in, dial in the tuning, strum the strings, and play. The self-tuning system is built into a gorgeous Gibson SG guitar without changing its looks while retaining all the sound and playability that have made the SG one of the most successful electric guitars of all time. To tune itself, the Robot Guitar uses an onboard central processing unit (CPU) that analyzes the pitch of each string as detected by the Tune-Control bridge. Tuning information from the CPU is relayed to the motorized tuning machines that efficiently adjust each string to the correct pitch with a distinctive whirring sound that lets you know Robot Guitar is on the job. You activate the Robot SG Special with the Master Control Knob (MCK) that functions as a tone control in the down position and is pulled up to activate the tuning system. In addition to standard (A-440Hz) tuning, six commonly used tunings are selectable from the MCK. Users can also program their own custom tunings as well as set the guitar’s intonation. Now, with the Gibson Robot Guitar, you’ll spend more time playing-in tune. In live performance you can easily change tunings practically soundlessly on the fly, keeping your show flowing smoothly. There’s no longer any need to haul several instruments to the gig to cover various tunings; The Robot has got you covered! The Robot SG Special Ltd. has a solid mahogany body with a nitrocellulose finish. The mahogany neck is hand-shaped into a rounded ’50s profile and is topped with an ebony fretboard. A Gibson 490R humbucker pickup with Alnico II magnets in the neck position and 498T humbucker with Alnico V magnets in the bridge position provide that “Patent Applied For” sound. Four-conductor wiring allows connection of a push/pull pot for coil-splitting. Wax potting reduces the chances of microphonic feedback. The performance-safeguarding Neutrik jack secures the cord into the guitar.
