i just started and i can’t read music and i dont know the notes or cords yet. so i need music thats just the strings and riffs. classic rock please ![]()
You ever considered something called tabs? Learn to read tabs. Go on google, type in for example.. Time Pink Floyd Tabs. You should get several links to the tabs.
Ultimateguitar is good.
911 tabs (or soemthing like that) is a tab search engine. Always make sure you get the ones with 5 stars. If you can’t find them, i guess you can settle for four.
Go on youtube. Look for BobbyCrispy (he does a lot of classic rock lessons) and look for JustinGuitar aka JustinSandercoe. He does everything except for classical music.
guitar is very different from saxophone. being able to read notes doesn’t matter as much unless you are going to be playing classical, or maybe be playing it with the jazz band at school, which in many cases you can even follow chord sheets with that.
It also depends on what type of guitar playing you are going to be focusing on.
I prefer playing lead, which involves using alot of scales. I feel it is much easier to play lead than rhythm, but that is just my preference.
If you are focusing on rhythm guitar you will need to learn many of the different chord fingerings.
It also depends on whether you are playing electric or acoustic. I think electric is easier, and I would recommend playing it, but most people will tell you to start on acoustic.
I will go ahead and list my guitars on here too.
I have an Alvarez acoustic (no clue what particular model, it is a great acoustic guitar, my wife bought it for me from a guitar player at my church a couple of years ago.)
I have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom electric.

Im a beginner guitar player .. i just got it . now i want to know what the difference between sheet music and tabs are ? and which one is easier
Sheet music:
language of pro musicians
notates pitch, key, meter, chords, harmonies, rhythm, modulations
allows any instrument to play the piece of music
Provides a system for writing music and understanding harmony and music theory
has been used for hundreds of years
Tabs:
used mostly by amatuers or ignorant musicians
notates ONLY where to put your finger on the guitar (you can not play the song without knowing it first)
Is written specifically for guitar or bass at one specific tuning
Will in the long run drastically limit your ability
You decide!
You can be a phenomenal musician without even reading music (like Flea of RHCP) but in the long run the difference between Flea and trained bassists who can read music like Tony Levin, John Myung, Victor wooten, John Pattituci is HUGE!
Is there a program that exists where you can scan the guitar sheet music/tab books (like the Hal Leonard books) and it will read and playback the sheetmusic/tabs?
Is there one where you have the option to isolate and playback specific riffs, etc., rather than playing all the intruments at once, if you want to?
Interpreting the sheetmusic is difficult and seeing and hearing how it should sound will make things a lot easier.
I agree with your last statement. But, I don’t think that there is a method commercially available to actually photographically scan sheet music and have software play it for you. However, there are guitar tablature editors that can "isolate and playback specific riffs."
A popular and free one is PowerTab, and a good paid one is Guitar Pro (5). One that is probably less known is Tuxguitar (originally made for Linux OS’s but can be downloaded for free for Windows), but it can save files in the .ptb (PowerTab) and .gp(#) (Guitar Pro) file formats. Beware of scams; PowerTab and Tuxguitar are free programs. You should not have to pay for them.
The only drawback is that you have to put in the notes yourself manually, either by traditional music notation or by tab. Otherwise, have someone play the notes for you.
